Tulsa Boat Sport &
Travel Show
Once again Windycrest will have a booth at the boat show. The show
kicks off on January 30th and runs through February 5th. Many Club
members volunteer their time to man the booth. It is a lot of fun
plus you get to go to the boat show at no charge! If you are interested in
participating you will need to contact Steve Snider at
918-242-3192. Call soon as the spaces fill up fast.
Mardi Gras Awards
Party
Come out and see all your Windycrest friends on Saturday, February
18th. Break out the beads and wear your purple, green, and gold. The party
party starts at 6:30 at the Buddy LaFortune Community Center,
located at 5202 S. Hudson Ave. They'll be junior trophies, senior trophies,
perpetual trophies, special trophies, and we'll induct a Past
Commodore into the "Old Hulks of Windycrest".

Sailing Seminar
A free to the public "Introduction To Sailing" seminar will
be hosted by Windycrest and the Case Community Center
in Sand Springs.

US Sailing Race Management Seminar
For those of you who want to increase
your knowledge about racing in general and running races specifically, here is
your chance.
Race Management Seminar sponsored by Area F of US
SAILING,
Feb 25th, 8:30am to 5pm
This seminar is for everyone who
would like to refresh and increase their knowledge of such all the things that
involve running races.
It is also for folks interested in becoming certified by US Sailing as a Club
Race Officers . When we hosted this in 2008, we had 41 people
attend from Oklahoma and Texas.
The lead instructor for this seminar will be Bruce Greene from California. Bruce
is a US Sailing National Race Officer and an ISAF International
Race Officer. Assisting Bruce will be Wayne Coulon, our Area Officer from
Dallas.
The seminar fee is $50. The fees include
refreshments during the morning and afternoon and lunch. Advance registration by
email
to
GKSander@cox.net by February 15th is highly recommended to
confirm adequate planning by us and preparation for you, especially if you
want to pass the test. Non-members, who register for this seminar, will be
offered a Special Introductory $45 US SAILING one year
adult membership. (regular individual $60.00)
Check-in and continental breakfast will be at 0800 on Saturday. The seminar will
begin at 0830 and will conclude by 1700. At the seminar you will
need your own copy of The Racing Rules of Sailing 2009-2012 which you should
have received with your membership or is available from
US SAILING. You can also use your I phone or I pad with the USSAILING App
and the US Sailing Race Management Handbook. You will receive
a JOIN THE RACE COMMITTEE book from US SAILING, a CD of the workshop materials
covered and a receipt for tax purposes.

2012 Schedule of Events
The schedule for 2012 is now available on the "Calendar
& Events" link. It is nowhere near complete, but it does show some of the
fleet
assignments for the upcoming season. As other schedule items become
available, such as the training schedule, we will add it to the
schedule.
2012 Dues
Your 2012 Windycrest dues have mailed, you should have them by now.
Payment is due February 1, 2012. Please get them back to the Club
before February 15th deadline to avoid late payment fees.
January Windword
Check
out the latest edition right here on-line. In this issue is an article about
hypothermia. Solve the Windycrest crossword puzzle that
our editor created. Plus read Chris Gill's Connecticut connection.
Windword Changes
Beginning in February, the Windword will be available only a digital format that will be e-mailed to all
members.
Many members are quite happy receiving the electronic version. It saves the Club a
bunch of money in postage and printing.
If you prefer the printed version, you will need to
request that the Windword be mailed to you when filling out your annual membership renewal.
There is an additional fee for receiving the paper version.

FROSTBITE!
The GTMYC invites you to
sail.
If anyone wants to try our RC sailing we
have an extra
boat that can be borrowed.
We meet at 2pm Sundays at
the pond
behind TTC's
Southeast
Campus at
81st and Hwy 169. If the temp is
cooler than 40 or the wind is over 20 racing is cancelled.
